Ben Warner dabbled with weightlifting, Taiji, Xingyi, and Wah-Lum Kung-Fu before moving to Boston in 1998. After his first trial class with George Dominguez at YMAA he realized he had stumbled onto something good.
"I thought I was in pretty good shape, but after 45 minutes of class I thought I was going to pass out. The next day when my legs ached so badly that I could barely walk, I knew I wanted to train here."

In Spring 2001, Ben began to assist Jim Noble with the Kids Shaolin program. As time went on, he became more involved and is now a regular Kids Shaolin instructor.
In 2001, Ben also began studying the most fundamental of Chinese long weapons: the staff. His practice led him to assist in staff classes at YMAA Boston. Ben has taught staff in classes and seminars worldwide since 2002.
As his Shaolin training continued, Ben became interested in White Crane Kung-Fu and Qigong. He began to specialize in the Southern art. Ben has been involved with White Crane seminars in Boston and internationally since 2003.
In 2005 Ben began training with kettlebells. After a few months of training, he was motivated to become a kettlebell instructor. In 2006, he became a certified kettlebell instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline's RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) program. He has been teaching classes and private lessons ever since.
"I was looking to gain a little weight and add a little strength. What surprised me was how I was able to improve not just my strength, but my explosive power and flexibility as well. Kettlebells are a fantastic supplement to any martial arts program."
- Ben Warner
Ben has been a mainstay at the YMAA International Summer Camps since 2003. He has been featured in several YMAA books and DVDs, including productions in Qin-Na (Chin Na), White Crane, staff basics, and Taiji Ball Qigong. Ben is currently teaching morning Shaolin classes, Kids Shaolin, and kettlebell classes here at YMAA Boston.
