Simon Pang
- Shaolin Long Fist
- Shaolin White Crane
Simon Pang has been at YMAA for over 15 years. He is amongst the first generations of students training under Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming in Boston. His interest in martial arts was inspired by watching Kung-Fu films and Japanese Power Rangers as a child. Martial arts was one of best things to come along in his life. In 1985, Simon started doing Kempo Karate at age 10. He was forced to quit Kempo in 1988 when his family moved away to Roslindale.
"My parents knew I had a big interest in martial arts, so we researched places to continue my training, eventually finding YMAA in Jamaica Plain. I remember very well my first class with Michael, which involved a series of grueling exercises. The class was physically and mentally more exerting than what I was used to, but I enjoyed it and told my parents I wanted to come back to YMAA."
For the next 7 years, Simon trained at YMAA in Long Fist and White Crane. He became an assistant instructor for the Kids Shaolin classes in 1994, when he was a junior in high school. Simon began teaching Saturday Adult Shaolin classes after graduating from Boston University in 1999 and continues today to be a regular YMAA instructor teaching Shaolin Kung-Fu.
